We just recently got word that our CareerLaunch program was awarded top regional honors, and the same recognition was given to our Keystone Club for its Community Closet project.
CareerLaunch encourages Club members 13-18 to assess their skills and interests, explore careers, make sound educational decisions and ultimately join the work force. We have financial support from the Shopko Foundation, which among other things allowed us to secure Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds as well to grow this program. Also, we have hiring agreements with Shopko and Festival Foods to ensure that our ‘graduates’ get an opportunity for external employment once they are ready.
Keystone Club is a leadership and service initiative for our members age 14-18 years old, who elect their own officers and plan/deliver service projects among other things. This award-winning Community Closet project served 80+ Club members and their families with gently used clothes.
All or part of 11 states comprise the Midwest Region of our national Boys & Girls Club of America organization, and there are a total of 5 regions across the country.
